Hey!
This week, I was really feeling “Waiting On You” by Coloured Clocks.
This song was released with their album “Particle” on January 16th, 2016. They originate in Melbourne and describe themselves as a “Musical Zoo”. Song Cycle, Duke, Innerspeaker, and more influence them. When I listen to them, I personally can compare their sound to Tame Impala, but mainly Ariel Pink’s most recent album “Pom Pom”, or even some earlier “Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti”. I really enjoy their dreamy pop and chill sound, super “diggable”. They record all of their music from home.
I really enjoy the soft guitar and soft percussion, it really adds to the dreamy sound that they are going for (or so I think they are going for). I find that the singer’s voice gets a little too high pitch at certain times making it sound a little weird, but otherwise its pretty cool. I really like the lyrics and I think that its something that a lot of people can relate to in one way or another. I like the breakdown at 2:00, its pretty psychedelic. Specifically, this song reminds me of Tame Impala’s “Eventually” from their most recent album, “Currents”.
This band is super underground and I think this is the deepest I have dug for this series so far, but I really enjoy their sound. I hope that they receive more recognition over time, because they have something pretty cool here.
