Victoria bred indie-folk stars Jon & Roy are releasing their 8th studio album Here, which epitomizes their journey to date; an assured collection of 9 brand new songs that touch upon themes of love, presence, hardship and joy. Building upon the creative energy of 2017’s The Road Ahead is Golden, Here is an aural balm to soothe in these uncertain times; a gentle reminder to be present, to revel in the simple joy of living.
With over 30 million streams worldwide, including their last hit single ‘Every Night’ racking up over 10 million streams alone, Jon and Roy’s brand of indie-folk is genre all in itself; evoking fog-shrouded mountains and evergreen treetops, sun-dappled beaches and the crackle of a campfire.
“Our eighth album “Here” is the album we’ve always wanted to record. It feels cohesive, yet varied enough that it’s not one-dimensional. It’s the best representation of our sound that we’ve produced to date and shows the variety of styles that we like to explore. Performing the songs from this album is definitely an element that we considered when making it and I think that we wanted to be sure that the songs would be fun and engaging to audiences live. We challenged ourselves and each other on this one and had fun working on it; I think the results capture that spirit.”
