The Original MakeUp Eraser : Tropic Like Its Hot 7-Day Make Up Eraser Set

The Original Makeup Eraser took the beauty community by storm in 2013 when it first launched claiming to erase all of your makeup with no chemicals, no oils, JUST water. According to the website, the cloth is made out of a “perfect blend of a premium, antibacterial, polyester that contains millions of tiny hair-like fibers that work as a suction cup to pull all makeup up and out of the skin.” I remember seeing a lot of my favourite beauty gurus rave about The Makeup Eraser and being really impressed when watching them demo it, but always held off from purchasing one due to the fact that I didn’t like the idea of having to use the same cloth for a week then washing it, or taking the plunge and buying a Makeup Eraser for each day of the week ( a single Makeup Eraser is $26 CAD at Sephora ).

3 years ago, I managed to get a mini sized Makeup Eraser using my Beauty Insider points at Sephora and was absolutely blown away by the results. The first time I used it, it was to remove eyeliner and brow gel, which came off without any trouble. I was shocked and still kind of skeptical because the eyeliner that I use isn’t marketed as waterproof. The real test came when I had a full face of makeup, my foundation is medium to heavy coverage and I’d also usually contour and highlight my face. To my surprise, the cloth held up really well! It got most of my makeup off in the first run through, which was a lot more than what I can take off with a single makeup wipe. Generally I would run through 2 or 3 wipes to get my face clean enough to wash, which also meant I was purchasing new makeup wipes every couple of weeks. I seriously contemplated buying the full sized cloth, but I still wasn’t keen on the idea of not being able to wash it for a week. The original size also felt a little too big, so I just held off and started washing my Makeup Eraser by hand with shampoo after every use, and then tossing it in with my laundry at the end of the week. This worked out perfectly for me, and I have to say, I’m impressed by how well the cloth has held up + the amount of money I’ve saved from not purchasing disposable makeup wipes. My skin is also really sensitive and sometimes depending on the makeup wipe, it can irriate my skin and cause a burning sensation from rubbing it on my face, which isn’t a problem when I’m using the Makeup Eraser.

A couple nights ago I was on the Sephora site and saw the Tropic Like It’s Hot 7-Day Make Up Eraser Set. I immediately had to purchase it, it was a no-brainer. $33 for 7 mini Makeup Erasers, and it came with a laundry bag to toss them into the washer at the end of the week. I did some research after seeing the set, and discovered that this isn’t a new thing. Makeup Eraser has offered a 7-Day mini set before, I guess I just haven’t been paying attention. Either way, I’m happy to finally get my hands on a 7-Day set, it’s definitely worth the price point.
