UK band ACRES have share the new single “Staring at the Sun“, which comes off their new album The Host that arrives on May 2 via Solid State Records. Pre-order it here
The song showcases the band’s quiet-loud dynamics — Acres’ deftness with melody, maelstrom, and romantic misery.
“‘Staring at the Sun’ is a classic miserable Acres love song,” shares vocalist Ben Lumber. “The record goes in a brand new direction, but we wanted a few songs to nod to our roots with remnants of our old vibe. It’s about not being able to let go of someone or something who has a hold over you.”
“The Host represents a bold step in a new direction for us as a band, we’ve always pushed ourselves to evolve with every album and never write the same record twice,” Lumber explains. “This time the process was unlike anything we’ve done before, working with Landon Tewers brought a fresh perspective and added a new flair to our sound that we’re really excited about!”
