Reba Meyers (of Code Orange) continues to build anticipation for her forthcoming solo debut with the release of “Clouded World,” the album’s ripping title track and third single.
The accompanying video, directed by Sanford Worth and Tony Aguilera, features cameos from Myles Ulrich (Taipei Houston) and solo artist Lola Colette.
The song was recorded by the late Steve Albini at Electrical Audio, just six months before his passing. “Steve championed the medium of physical recordings, and that process inherently encourages the commitment to imperfection,” says Reba. “I hope to embrace the randomness and grit of life, which includes our imperfections, as both their beauty and ugliness are often able to both inspire and teach us about our inner workings.”
On the meaning behind “Clouded World,” she continues: “Too many aspects of the modern human condition feel entirely over-labored and orchestrated. We have drifted far from our primal instincts and have gotten so distracted by the myriad tools at our fingertips that we forget that our human imperfections are the one thing that makes us special and unpredictable.”
