Concert Review: Wintersleep @ mod club, May 26, 2010

Halifax Nova Scotia’s own Wintersleep made the trip into Toronto for a show at the Mod Club. Playing a relatively early show without an opener almost seemed risky to me when I got in to the Mod Club and realized it was still quite empty. No worries, the band took the stage a few minutes later than scheduled but played to a full and quite eager crowd. Wintersleep is about to embark on a U.S. tour in support of their fourth full length album named “New Inheritors” and used the Mod Club gig to showcase the new songs.

The new album was just released on May 18, 2010 and I have to say the new songs are killer. The crowd seemed to share my opinion as the screaming and applause grew louder with each passing song. I honestly came into the show thinking the new album had not yet grown on me. However after having seen them played live and listening to them once again as I write this I can hardly put down in words how much of an appreciation I have for this band. Catch Wintersleep later this year when they play at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre with Tegan and Sara with City and Colour. Check out the new album at their Official Site.
