Welcome 2016

As Taylor Swift says “It’s a new soundtrack, I could dance to this beat.” We shall dance. 

It turns out the longer we run this train, the bigger the roller coaster gets. The ups and downs oscillate to new heights and lows. Fortunately the highs significantly triumph over everything else. The thrill has never been more exciting!

I’d like to personally thank the phenomenal team we have at Live in Limbo. Even though our former music editor Sarah Rix has left, we have a solid backbone and able spirits ready to take on new challenges. The leadership team of Randall Vasquez, Dakota Arsenault, Andreas Babiolakis, and Katrina Wong Shue and myself are ready for 2016. Thank you to all the contributors on the LiL team. We have the most talented photographers, writers, and minds in the city. A big thank you goes to everyone we work with. The artists, labels, promoters, public relations, and venues we work with are all fantastic. 

And while we anxiously look forward to the new year, there are many amazing things we accomplished in 2015. 

Our original content has been featured in Rolling Stone, Billboard, Huffington Post and hundreds of other news websites from around the globe. This further cements LiL’s position as one of the best independent pop-culture resources in Toronto and the world. 

LiL had unprecedented access to the biggest events. From Taylor Swift, to AC/DC, to Madonna, to Arianna Grande, to Smashing Pumpkins, to Sam Smith, to Ed Sheeran and everything in-between. Our team covered the biggest festivals like WayHome, SXSW, Osheaga, NXNE, CMW just to name a few. We were there for them all. 

We landed exclusive interviews. LiL only began putting resources and effort into video interviews just two months ago, and what progress we’ve made. In such a short amount of time, we leveraged our name to meet up with the biggest names in the industry. We conducted the last interview with the late Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots, we spoke with our Canadian indie-rock heroes of Stars, and sat down with international pop sensation JoJo about her return to the scene. Stay tuned for a whole lot more video content in 2016. 

Our unique and one of a kind podcast Capsule soared to new heights topping the #1 music themed show in the iTunes charts early this year. We love connecting with artists, staff, and industry experts. This is a great way to do this. Then something unexpected happened. It seems we love podcasting so much, that our second show Contra Zoom was born as a place for us to discuss our passion for film. Expect even more weekly episodes in the new year.

Streaming has arguable been the topic of the year in music. So when they reached out to us, we accepted. We’re thrilled to have partnered with the biggest platforms in the world like Spotify to bring you handpicked playlists curated by our team. 

Visually, we freshened up with a brand new logo. World renowned graphic designer Matt McCracken of Doublenaut handcrafted this gem we now proudly hang on our header and watermarks.
