From the artist : “While living New York I felt I was constantly “covered by city screams” with “my neck as tense as the wolves on the prowl.” The city that’s still part of my identity, my hustle, and my upbringing was now giving me headaches and moments of periodic emotional pain I could not control. Through the cracks and the crevasses of the subway walls I developed a mental illness conducive to the intensities of the city. This song describes the need to shut down “pull myself Asleep” escaping the extreme highs and lows of living with Manic Depression. We all are not alone inside but sometimes we need to take a breath and dive to get by. Or in this case for me it was to dive into writing this song.” – David Pollack
