Attending the iHeartRadio MMVAs as a VIP

One of the biggest nights for music in Canada is the iHeartRadio MMVAs. Thousands of fans from all over the world gathered on Queen Street in Toronto to see this year’s spectacle be hosted by Gigi Hadid. This year featured hot performances by Fifth Harmony, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tegan and Sara, Alessia Cara, Shawn Mendes, James Bay, and of course Nick Jonas running through the crowd.

While you could definitely sit in a line and wait to get wristbands weeks before, or try view the show from a rooftop from afar, there are definitely better ways to attend the show. As a proud Virgin Mobile Ambassador, our Content Editor Katrina and myself teamed up with all the fine folks at MUCH to show you how being a member is better.  Around two dozen very luck people won a contest can got to attend the MMVAs as a VIP.

The fun began on Saturday where we got to watch the artists soundcheck from the very snazzy and very red Members Lounge. Where else can you experience the MMVAs from comfy couches and snack on popcorn, pizza, and candies galore? We made a cute Boomerang with MUCH host Liz Trinnear too.

Living life as a VIP means you get unique opportunities to explore the famous MUCH HQ building and see all of awesome sets used to film various TV shows, and eventually making our to the top floor to see the amazing views of the stage from high above. We were even taken backstage to do a meet and greet with Tegan and Sara! I’m not one to get starstruck, but this all happened rather spontaneously and unexpectedly. Being a long time fan of theirs, it was unreal.

Then it was time to dress to impress. VIPs reunited on the big day at the Royal Alexandria theatre, where we were loaded into our Escalade limos. That’s right, we drove in style to the MMVAs and got a once in a life time chance to actually walk the red carpet with thousands of screaming fans (probably not for us, but it was pretty darn cool regardless) and hundreds of media cameras pointed our way.

Everyone loves the red carpet sequence of award shows, so we got our own section to get up front with all the celebrities as they made their grand entrances. Gigi, Hailey Baldwin, Marianas Trench, Scott Hellman, and Shawn Mendes, had the girls around me screaming in a fun frenzy.

Lights, camera, action. It’s showtime. Virgin Mobile VIPs made our way around the MUCH building into a secure area where we actually got to watch the entire MMVAs from our own pod literally right beside the stage. Seeing Fifth Harmony, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Alessia Cara, and all the other amazing performers really made it a special night in Toronto. The big winner of the show was Drake with Video of The Year for “Hotline Bling”.

You too can experience the VIP life at the MMVAs and other major festivals if you’re a Virgin Mobile user, as well as all of the other fantastic everyday benefits. It gets you that much closer.
