Niagara based indie-rock group InLimbo, were finalists in the 2009 YouDiscover.ca competition. I had the unexpected pleasure of seeing them perform live in one of the most Canadian environments I could ever ask for. The young and charismatic group played at the Oakes Garden which is just along the rim of Niagara Falls and brought all their loyal fans to rock.
InLimbo was born in 2006 when lead singer Taylor Page, who is originally from Vancouver and bassist Sandro Rocco  got together in preparation for their high school’s battle of the bands contest despite not having an official drummer or any original songs. They were literally in limbo. And that is where their band name derived from.
Fortunately, once a band name was settled on, everything seemed to fall into place or so they thought. Â Twin brother of Sandro, the talented guitarist and songwriter Giulio Rocco joined the band. However, even now with three permanent members, they were still cursed in limbo as they struggled to find a committed drummer. Â Numerous shows and various drummers later, the final piece of the puzzle was complete when Adam Slinn took the sticks.
The first cover they ever played live was “Time” by Pink Floyd and their first recording they made was a cover of “Weapon” by Matthew Good. Since that time, InLimbo has recorded a handful of original songs and have played many gigs. Some of their favorite artists and influences include the likes of Okkervil River, The Constantines, Hey Rosetta!, Matthew Good and The National.
Currently, InLimbo has a full length album in the works and I cannot wait to give them a listen and see where this talented band is headed in the future.
