Photos + Review: Motion City Soundtrack – Warped Tour 2010

MotionCitySoundtrack4

The band has come a long way since their 2003 debut with I Am The Movie, but their stage presence could still use a little bit more energy to match the energetic melodies of their songs. However, musically, Motion City Soundtrack is better than ever, and one might even say that the sound of their live performance conquers the recorded album version (even despite the lack of sound quality that typically comes from any Warped Tour stage set-up). What sets them apart from all the other pop-punk acts is the incredibly unique vocals and synthesizer sounds. I highly recommend catching this band the next time they pass through Toronto.

Once again, Motion City Soundtrack made an appearance on the main stage of this years’ Warped Tour, and as always, didn’t disappoint. The 5-piece pop-punk act from Minneapolis is hitting up a handful of dates for Warped Tour to promote their fourth album and major-label debut, My Dinosaur Life. They gave the large crowd a taste of their new tunes with “Her Words Destroyed My Planet”, but filled the majority of the set with older favourites like “Broken Heart”, “The Future Freaks Me Out”, and “When You’re Around”.
