Trans-Siberian Orchestra at Air Canada Centre

Trans-Siberian Orchestra is on a winter tour that takes them to 71  shows  across North America. Only one Canadian performance north of the border was at the Air Canada Centre December 3rd.

Released in 1998, “The Christmas Attic” is the only album of TSO’s Christmas trilogy that has not been performed in its entirety. Most fans may recognize the album for the hit “Christmas Canon.”

The Christmas Attic’s narrative begins on Christmas Eve, when a young girl’s curiosity leads her to a night of mischief and magic.  She decides to sneak up into the attic of her parents’ home while she should be asleep, there discovers a magical doorway to the past in the form of a mysterious trunk filled with ornaments, toys, old records and bundles of handwritten letters. A discovery in one of the letters, leads to an unlikely adventure.

As for the music, TSO take the likes of Led Zepplin and Yes as their inspiration, adding in elements of classical music, heavy metal and just about anything else which tickles their fancy. You won’t find many other bands switching from a guitar solo to the heavenly voices of a choir without a moment’s notice. The Christmas Attic Tour is named after the band’s 1998 holiday-themed rock opera, which they played live in its entirety for the first time.

This was an uplifting incredible fun fulfilled evening, with spectacular special effects!  There was pyrotechnics, which the heat could be felt all around the ACC no matter where you were sitting; there was animation and snow falling from the ceiling!  It was an incredible site to see!  During a scene from the show the lasers actually looked like candy canes in the air throughout the arena!  There were 3 retractable platforms that twisted over the crowd while TSO was rocking out wowing the audience!  What a sight to see, the stage was ever changing.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra will wrap up 2014 by performing their rock opera The Christmas Attic live for the first time in arenas across the nation on their Winter Tour 2014.  This is a must see for all who believe in the spirit of Christmas!
