Magic!, Kiesza, Lights, Colbie Caillat, Trevor Guthrie at CHUM FM FanFest

At Canadian Music Week, there is an annual star-studded tradition known as the CHUM FM FanFest. This year it took place in the Grand Ballroom at Sheraton Centre in the heart of Toronto.

It stayed true to it’s concept and brought many pop heavy weights to our town. Vancouver’s Trevor Guthrie (formerly of soulDecision) brought his dance hits “This is What it Feels Like” and “Soundwave” to the already packed ballroom. Fist pumping for all.

Toronto was treated to some folk pop as American singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat graced the stage. She brought some prestige to the event with her Grammy wins as well.

The night became refocused on Canadian talent as Juno award winner Lights hit the stage in her dark green overalls. Fans in the crowd ate her up with songs like “Running with the Boys” and “Up we Go”

The strobes and crazy factor was turned up to eleven when the new queen of the street Kiesza jumped on stage. She and her 2 dancers were charismatic, energetic, on key, and just mesmerizing to witness. Big things are happening for this lady.

The final act of the night was Canadian and now international pop group sensation Magic! The world knows them for their track “Rude”. They’ve won Junos, but have always received two Billboard Music award nominations. The reggae fusion style is working for them and even with the new found fame, they are still humble. They donated $100,000 earlier this year to help develop music educational programs in Canada and while they currently reside in Los Angeles, they have not forgotten their Toronto roots.
