PGA Canadian Open at Glen Abbey

A week after the  open championship, you would think calm quiet  relaxing maybe even a little jet lag for some, Glen Abbey where this year’s Canadian Open will be played , that not the case.. Mike Weir pulls out for person reasons.  We have 16 Canadian Players lead by Graham DeLaet with two of the sixteen Canadian  amateur. A caddy being fired mid round and a spectator being hired.

Lets start with the firing. Oddly enough Australian golfer Robert Allenby,  fired his caddie Mick Middlemo mid-round at the Canadian Open at Glen Abbey in Oakville, Ont., on Thursday following a disagreement over club selection. Middlemo walked off the course and Allenby summoned fan Tom Fraser, a 61-year-old principal at Ontario’s Acheron College at Kingston Penitentiary, who carried Allenby’s bag for the remainder of his round.

Graham DeLaets one of our top Canadian hopefuls ranked 85th on the PGA Tour earing $988,349 had to with draw from the open.

David Hearn leads the RBC Canadian Open by two strokes through three rounds and is in position to be the first Canadian to win the tournament since Pat Fletcher in 1954. Hearn, from Brantford, Ont., had five birdies and just one bogey Saturday to jump into the lead at 15 under.

On Sunday The Open Champion Jason Day mad sure that he wasn’t going to leave his 20ft putt short like he did the week before. Day sinking his putt  gave him  one shot over Bubba and two over Hearn

It was nice to see Day having a bit of fun with our Canadian Mounties  switching hat for a few photos Jason said he loves Canada and looks for defending his championship next year. July 18-24th at Glen Abbey again.
