Brampton’s rising star Alessia Cara performs a two night sold-out show at the Danforth Music Hall.  The 19-year-old singer-songwriter had a whirlwind year when her debut single, “Here” dominated the airwaves this past summer. Hot off the heels of a critically approved record, Cara embarks on her first headline tour which promises to display her sophisticated brand of originality.

Appearing on stage sporting a denim jacket and an all black outfit (v-neck shirt and ripped jeans), opening strong with “I’m Yours” while greeting those in the front with a high-five.  She kept the energy flowing with her new single, “Wild Things” which continues to show off her rebellious attitude that defined debut track.

Cara took a moment to express her gratitude to those in attendance as she claims this is largest crowd she’s ever performed for. “I think 90% of you are my family and friends,” she jokes.  As she and her band continue to perform songs from her full -length, Know-It-All, Cara proves she is talented beyond her years.

Her distinctive raspy vocals demonstrated her uniqueness, maturity and confidence on the stage.  She reminds me of a young Aaliyah – a baby girl appeal with adult contemporary mentality. Despite a few technical issues, it didn’t stop her from putting on a memorable show for her fans. It won’t be long before Cara selling out bigger venues and taking her career to new heights. She saved the best for last as she closed out with “Here” and chose “My Song” for her encore.
