Below The Ground

“Give It To Me” By HOMESHAKE

Hola!

This week, I will be featuring “Give It To Me”, by HOMESHAKE.

HOMESHAKE is the solo project of Peter Sagar; one of Mac Demarco’s live guitarists. This song is from his most recent album, “Midnight Snack” which was released on September 18th,2015. This mellowed out masterpiece was recorded over the course of Winter 2014 at the Drones Club in Montreal, alongside Jackson MacIntosh.

The album was released with Sinderlyn Records; which I could not discover any information on which is unfortunate- I guess they are just that “lowkey”.

I discovered and fell in love with this song as I witnessed a friend of mine getting a stick and poke tattoo. I give this song a 10/10 – to me, it’s perfection. The tempo along with the repeated slow strumming riff, just blows my mind. His voice is pretty soft throughout, and I can’t get over the intensity as he sings “Give it to me” in the chorus. What I find most enjoyable is definitely the musicality – I could definitely listen to this just as an instrumental and be completely satisfied, his voice/lyrics are just another additive that make the song what it is. This is definitely a hidden gem, and I feel so lucky to have discovered it.

Lyrics:

I wish you could climb inside my head
So you could see what it means
When I’m so cold
Feeling so low
Horrible
Give it to me, (3x)
Give it to me baby,
Now show me your love

Give it to me, (3x)
Give it to me baby,
Now show me some love

I wish I could live in your heart
So I could see what it means
When you’re so hot
You seem so far
Away

Give it to me, (3x)

Give it to me baby,

Now show me some love

Give it to me, (3x)

Give it to me baby,

Now show me some love

Give it to me, (3x)

Give it to me baby,

Now show me some love
