London, ON based band Ivory Hours opened the show at The Meridian Centre playing songs from their album “Morning Light”. The band landed the gig after Marianas Trench held a contest for bands to enter to open for them at any of the tour dates. They submitted the video and Josh from Marianas Trench picked the winners for each show. Newfoundland electronic pop band Repartee hit the stage next, and got the audience dancing. When they closed their set with their radio hit “Dukes” the crowd was going wild. It was a moment where many people in the crowd thought they had never heard of Repartee, but as soon as “Dukes” started, they realized they recognized the hit single from the radio. Third on the bill was Shawn Hook. From the beginning of his set, many people thought he’d be sitting at his piano for each song. He surprised the audience when he went into the crowd to get up close and personal with the fans, halfway through his set. As soon as he started playing “Sound of Your Heart”, you could see everyone in the crowd stand up and start dancing. Mariana’s Trench kicked off their set with “Astoria” . Marianas Trench definitely still know how to make their shows intimate. During Shut Up and Kiss Me Josh ran into the crowd and went all the way to the back of the arena so the people at the back could have the same experience as the people in front row. Followed up by “One Love” on the b-stage at the back of the arena. Many fans were ecstatic when they brought back an acoustic version “Good To You” to their setlist as part of the encore.
