“I Won’t Die” by Chris Assaad

Rating: 8/10

Chris Assaad releases his latest 11 track LP, I Won’t Die (2017). As themes of love and peace revolve around the record, it’s no surprise that the young singer-songwriter continues to spread love with his latest work. Working with producer Bill Bell, who has worked with Juno nominee Justin Nozuka and 2010’s Grammy Award winner, Jason Mraz.

The young Torontonian has dealt with quite a few obstacles in his life including being diagnosed with hereditary induced hearing loss; all for the love of music, which is shown undoubtedly through his current record. Songs like “ I Won’t Die” the first single off the album; Assaad pleads his love for music through a groovy bass filled tune. Moving along, he gets personal singing  “The Promise Of Beauty”, the quintessential break-up song that fits perfectly into the album and contrasts with the following track “Her”, an ode to a current lover or past love. It’s definitely a song you would want to play if you want to win your girlfriend back. Closing the album with “You Are” an open letter regarding growth and strength, the perfect pick me up song accompanied by sangfroid piano and powerful strings.

I Wont Die, is currently streaming on Spotify and Apple Music! Check out Chris’s website for more info on tour dates and more! chrisassaad.com
