After a rainy and muddy day one of Boston Calling, day two brought much needed clear skies and sunshine. Kevin Morby and Moses Sumney were some of the first bands to hit the green stage on Saturday and the warm sunny weather brought out a very eager an early crowd for both sets. One of my new favourites, Brandi Carlile was one of the most surprising sets of the day. There were only a handful of people in the crowd who had never heard of her before including myself. Her performance brought the whole crowd together and everyone was dancing and singing along. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats was another highlight to the day. The crowd really loved the energy the band brought to the stage, and you didn’t have to know every song from Nathaniel Rateliff to have fun during their set. Mumford & Sons ended the night at the green stage by inviting guests to the stage for their final song, a cover of “With a Little Help From My Friends”. Guests included acts that performed earlier in the day such as Brandi Carlile, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Aaron Dessner of The National and curator of Boston Calling. It was the perfect way to end day 2 of Boston Calling, and definitely had everyone in the crowd smiling and singing along.
