Every year we ask our talented contributors to send us their thoughts on the past twelve months. These surveys appear untouched, and the only instruction was to answer the question however they see fit. –Dakota Arsenault, Music Editor
How long have you been with Live in Limbo and what do you do for the site?

Hopped across the border for my annual Warped Tour run, and ended up finally seeing some bands that my friends kept raving to me about ie) Hatebreed and Carnifex
What/who was the biggest musical disappointment (live or album) for you?
I’ve been an avid Katy Perry fan since 2008, but her new album Witness just didn’t cut it for me. With the direction she took with
this album, none of the songs seemed to stick which was pretty disappointing.
What band did you see live for the first time that really impressed you?
Carach Angren – I’ve always been intrigued with their spooky and theatrical stage presence, it really enhances their live performance when paired with their style of symphonic death metal.
What was your favourite new musical discovery of 2017?
Belphegor
Who were you disappointed to miss seeing live this year?
I regret not going to Hatebreed’s headlining tour after seeing them this Summer, and I also just missed Creeper’s set by 5 minutes at Warped.

blessthefall, Ghost, Avatar, and Tribulation are all set to have albums released in 2018 and I absolutely cannot wait to finally get new music from these bands. It’s going to be a great year for metal.

This year the Horseshoe Tavern celebrated its 70th birthday, do you have a fond memory or favourite all time show from the club?
Oddly enough, I’ve never actually attended a show at the Horseshoe before.
In your opinion, what was the biggest music story?
Instead of doing their usual “changing of the Papas”, Ghost left fans shrieking in horror as Papa Emeritus III was dragged off the stage in the middle of his final performance of 2017; revealing Papa 0… Who is super old and needs someone following him with a canister of oxygen. It’s yet unknown if Papa 0 will in fact be the new Papa that they perform with, but it was one heck of a crazy show to see videos of.
Is there anything else you want to say about 2017 or predict about 2018?
I feel like 2018 is going to be a great year for concerts in Toronto. With the amount of shows already announced, I can’t imagine what it’s going to look like by the end of the year.
