Song Premiere: “ADONIS” by Ron the Baptist

Toronto artist Ron the Baptist is releasing his debut single on August 31st, but we are giving you the exclusive first listen to his funky and fun dance track. With a killer disco guitar backing beat and a breakdown that will knock your brightly coloured sunglasses right off your face. With it’s tongue and cheek nod to 80’s synth rock Ron the Baptist is putting out a very assured debut track that will have people craving more from him immediately.

Teaming up with the city’s top talent, Ron the Baptist will be releasing his debut EP Sorry This Happened To You this fall. Produced by Frankie Figiomeni and Feurd Moore of The Elwins and mixed by JUNO award winner Jay Dufour and producer Derek Hoffman of Fox Sounds Studios, Dwayne Gretzky darlings Meg Contini and Jill Harris contribute to backing vocals.

“Essentially the story begins when I was flipping around the internet one day and I saw a picture of a front page article for one of those trash magazines. The headline of the paper read “I’m in love with 3ft statue of Adonis – but we won’t wed…I’d cheat with other statues”. Something about that headline was so funny and so profoundly sad, thinking of this woman coming home at night from work and sharing her feelings and her problems with this marble statue.” – Ron the Baptist
