Planning a casino trip – outside of the Strip

Gambling has long been a popular pastime, and is even more so in the modern age. With new regulations around US sports betting and more states allowing activities including NFL betting online, it is a golden age for gambling in the USA. Of course, while online gambling is the new kid on the block, land-based casinos have been around for a while in certain US locations.

By now, you have already had visions of Las Vegas flash up in your head. After all, it is hard to think about US casino life without doing so! But what do you do if you have sampled all that Vegas has to offer and need somewhere new to try? Luckily, there are some fabulous casinos to sample at many other amazing places in the US. Below are some of the best and you will certainly not regret a trip to check them out.

Mohegan Sun

The first stop on the list is this awesome complex and casino in the Connecticut foothills. Boasting 350,000 square feet of casino fun, it is one of the largest in all of the USA. Players here can try their hand on slots and all the usual table games from craps to blackjack. The atmosphere is lively but welcoming which is great for all kinds of player. When you have finished on the tables, there is lots more to discover, from a nightclub to a health spa and restaurants. There is even an 18-hole golf course if you fancy getting your putter out!

Trump Taj Mahal

Before he became US President, Donald Trump was a successful businessman with many ventures to his name. This casino complex is one of the best and is found in that US gambling hotspot, Atlantic City. Open since 1990, it covers 17 acres and has 167,000 square feet of gaming space. This is a great casino to stay over at with its 2,000 luxurious suites to relax in. When you add in the tasty restaurants to try, including Il Mulino, then it becomes even better. The casino itself is stylish and feels glamorous to play games in. As far as travel plans go, this is worth visiting.

L’Auberge du Lac

If you are looking for US casinos that aren’t in Vegas but still give that awesome experience, then this is a winner. Around two hours drive from Houston in Texas, this casino is housed in 242 acres near to Lake Charles. This not only makes for a beautiful setting but also provides space for its golf course. Guests love the swimming pool with its convenient swim-up bar when refreshments are needed. As far as the casino itself goes you will not be disappointed. There is a full range of games from slots to classic table ones to try and the dealers are helpful, and knowledgeable.

Paragon casino resort

Located in the Gulf Coast gambling area, Paragon Casino is another complex that will satisfy your gambling itch. A neat touch here is the off-track betting to take advantage of, something that not all casino complexes provide. There is also a very well-run poker room for the serious player. The food is particularly good with Louisiana inspired dishes to keep you satisfied. As well as gambling fun for adults, there is also a family fun center with an arcade and an indoor play center for the kids. This is a great complex for the whole family and one that many in the US visit when heading out of Vegas.

Mount Airy

Found in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, this has an impressive Four-Diamond star rating from AAA. The awe-inspiring natural setting is enough to recommend it and the landscape is stunning. This makes it perfect for outdoor activities when you finish playing casino games for the day. Mount Airy also has a massive indoor/outdoor pool and many live acts perform at the complex  over the summer months. The casino itself is well maintained and has all the games you would want. Staff are always on hand if you need advice or assistance.

Head out of Vegas for something different

When you think of heading to somewhere in the US to gamble, it is too tempting to always head for Vegas. While Sin City is certainly worth a look at least once in your life, you should look elsewhere now and then for a change. Any of the above options are great in this respect for the gambling fun they offer and the fabulous facilities they contain. If you fancy making it a great holiday and to maybe win some money, they are ideal.
