Award-winning rock four piece, The Beaches, release their brand new single, Grow Up Tomorrow. Perfectly encompassing what it feels like to be young, carefree, and reckless, “Grow Up Tomorrow is a summer banger about being in a state of arrested development but enjoying the hell out of it.”
Co-produced by Gus Van Go (Arkells, Whitehorse) and artist/songwriter, Lowell (Charlie XCX, Madison Beer, Hailee Steinfeld) – who also co-wrote the song with the band – Grow Up Tomorrow is a big, bright, ultra-catchy anthem in solidarity with all young adults still borrowing money, delaying doing laundry for weeks, and living in a basement, while their friends are buying their first homes, getting married, even having babies. The track begins with a captivating guitar line that is later joined by high-tempo percussion and an occasional whistle that, when paired with lyrics like, “God I think I lost my cellphone / Don’t know how I’m gonna find my way home,” revels in the feeling of consequence-free youth.
The Beaches describe their vision for the music video: “Since the song is such a fun bop we wanted to represent it in the only way we know how: by throwing a house party with all of our closest friends. I’ve recently come into my own in the queer community (Leandra), who have welcomed me with open arms, so I wanted to make sure we represented this new, big part of my life in the video.”
The band is currently on their North American Future Lovers tour that culminates with two hometown Toronto shows at History (August 5 and 6). See the full list of upcoming tour dates under the music video.
