Shawn Hook has announced that he will release his latest EP, “Beauty in Surrender,” on June 28 via Infinity & Records/UMG. The EP features six diverse yet cohesive tracks that promise to make listeners dance, sing, and feel deeply and marks a significant milestone in Hook’s illustrious career, being his first project since overcoming cancer in 2023. The Canadian pop singer-songwriter, known for the platinum-selling hits like “Reminding Me” (with Vanessa Hudgens) and “Sound of Your Heart,” is in remission after battling tonsil cancer in 2023. With a renewed perspective, Hook is ready to take on 2024 with a fresh outlook and new music. As an accomplished pianist and songwriter, Hook has built a global following, performing alongside international stars such as The Weeknd, Shawn Mendes, The Chainsmokers, and Camila Cabello. With three albums and two EPs already to his name, Shawn he’s eager to share this new chapter of his journey with the world.
“When it comes to the process of creating music, I like to have my hands on everything to ensure the outcome of my work is the best representation of what’s intended. When I was diagnosed with cancer last year, I realized quickly that I couldn’t control my fate. I was afraid of the process (surgery, chemo, radiation) it wasn’t until I chose to surrender that, I was able to find peace in my circumstance. Surrendering to my circumstance wasn’t a sign of weakness, but a means to empower me and let go of my fear and anxiety. Released earlier this month, “Magic” is an enchanting, up-tempo track, and the latest single from Hook, following the EP’s first single, “Bigger Than The Night,” which was released to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his cancer diagnosis and to celebrate his remission.
