Canadian Pop Punk icon, Avril Lavigne, celebrated her chart topping career with fans in Ottawa as she brought her Greatest Hits Tour to the Canadian Tire Centre on Wednesday night with Simple Plan and girlfriends.
With the stage draped in screens, confetti canons and pyro going off through out the night, Lavigne really pulled out all the stops for this tour as she performed hits such as ‘Girlfriend’, ‘Complicated’, and ‘Here’s To Never Growing Up’. As the night progressed, Lavigne also had a few surprises up her sleeve as she invited Simple Plan on stage to cover their hit ‘Addicted’. It was really cool to see two staples in Canadian music join forces like that. During the performance, Lavigne also enlisted Simple Plan front man, Pierre Bouvier, to help her choose a couple fans on stage to give away skateboards to and took selfies with them as she signed the boards.
I’m glad to see that after all of these years of success, she still somehow manages to find ways to interact with her fans and create memorable moments with them. Whether they were on stage with her getting a skateboard or all the way in the back of the arena freaking out that she just sang with Simple Plan, everyone got to experience something special that night.
Lavigne is currently on tour in support of her Greatest Hits album which was released on June 21st and can be purchased/streamed here.
