Behind the Video: “LTMFG” – Mandy McMillan

Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, country-pop artist Mandy McMillan has unveiled the new music video for her current single “LTMFG”. A cheeky acronym for “Let the Motherf***er Go”, the single is an unabashed self-love anthem for those ready to break free from toxic relationships, rebuild self-confidence, and embrace life. Written and produced by Mandy, “LTMFG” blends straight-shooting country storytelling, rock energy, and pop flourishes to craft an upbeat recipe of empowerment and adventure.

Over the years, Mandy has taken the lead in every influential aspect of her career, including releasing her 2022 album “Dream Catcher”and her 2025 single “Crazy Crazy”, building a regular stage presence around Alberta at the Pigeon Lake Music Festival, “Play On!” Edmonton (through Hockey Night in Canada), and Wild Roses Festival, and honing her musical production chops online through Berklee College of Music. More recently, Mandy is also working on her first book, “Every Single Girl’s Guide to Self-Love”, which was inspired by her new single. As she marks a new creative chapter, “LTMFG” brings together Mandy’s collection of experiences in one bold musical mantra about choosing self-love and letting go.

Today we’re excited to be teaming up with Mandy to give our readers and exclusive behind the scenes look at her music video for “LTMFG.”

Hi, I’m Mandy McMillan!

I’m a Canadian singer, songwriter, producer, motivational speaker and author-in-progress who is passionate about creating music that empowers people to embrace who they are and let go of what no longer serves them.

My music blends country storytelling, rock energy and pop influences, all rooted in authenticity, connection and self-love. I’m so excited to be teaming up with Live in Limbo to share more about my latest project, “LTMFG” (Let The Mother F*er Go), and to take you behind the scenes of the music video that has become such a special reflection of this chapter of my life.

THE INSPIRATION

At its heart, the inspiration behind the “LTMFG” music video came from the idea that healing doesn’t always have to be heavy.

So often when we think about letting go, we picture sadness, heartbreak or grief, but I wanted to show another side of it, one that feels freeing, empowering and even a little fun. Over the past few years, I’ve experienced a lot of personal growth, loss, change and moments of rebuilding myself and I realized that this song wasn’t just about letting go of another person. It became about releasing old stories, expectations, fears and versions of ourselves that we’ve outgrown.

The emotions behind the video are really rooted in liberation. There’s something incredibly beautiful about deciding that you no longer want to carry something that’s been weighing you down. I wanted the video to feel like a celebration of that moment, the moment you choose yourself, laugh a little, gather your friends around you and finally let the motherf*cker go.

THE CREATION

Bringing this vision to life with my videographer, Karly Watson, was such a beautiful and collaborative experience.

From the beginning, we knew we didn’t want the video to feel angry or bitter. We wanted it to feel lighthearted, playful and full of symbolism. Filming at sunset in an open field felt incredibly intentional because it represented endings, new beginnings and the beauty that can exist in transition. We created our own version of a “rage room” by incorporating items like photos and vases that could be smashed but with hidden messages of self-love and empowerment woven throughout. There was so much laughter during filming but also some unexpectedly emotional moments as people reflected on what they were personally ready to release.

Karly did such an incredible job capturing both the fun and the deeper meaning behind the project. The entire day felt less like filming a music video and more like creating a shared experience of healing, freedom and connection.

THE AUDIENCE

More than anything I want people to walk away from this video feeling lighter. I hope they smile, sing along, maybe laugh at the title a little but ultimately feel empowered to release whatever has been keeping them stuck. Whether that’s a relationship, self-doubt, guilt, expectations or simply an old version of themselves, I hope the video gives people permission to move forward.

My greatest wish is that someone watches it and believes in their heart that they deserve true love from the outside world but most importantly from themselves. We all have something we need to let go of and I think there’s something incredibly comforting in realizing we’re not alone in that. I also hope people see that healing doesn’t always have to be serious. Sometimes it looks like dancing with your friends at sunset, swinging a baseball bat and choosing joy anyway.

If people leave feeling a little more free, a little more confident and a little more connected to themselves, then we’ve done exactly what we hoped to do with this project.
