World Premiere

Video Premiere : “Rocket” by JP Maurice

Vancouver musician JP Maurice is having a pretty great 2018 so far. He started off the year on a reality TV show (yes, really) when he was featured on CTV’s The Launch. And today marks the Exclusive Video Premiere of his latest single ‘Rocket’ AND the release of his new album Boys, the follow-up to his pop-noir EP Girls. JP has also been busy playing plenty of shows this year! His album release show is tonight at the Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver and he just arrived back from Toronto where he showcased at Canadian Music Week.

The ‘Rocket’ video features the adorable Forest Jansen, who went viral this past March when he was caught on video dancing to a song by MGMT and was, evidently, deeply affected by the experience. The video first went viral on Reddit quickly gaining over 300,000 views.

“’Rocket’ was a song that came to me in 5 minutes on my 31st birthday,” says JP Maurice. ” It was a song that I felt I didn’t even write, I just pulled it down from the ether. It basically just wrote itself. For the ‘Rocket’ video, it was such a pleasure to work with my longtime friend Johnny Jansen, who played drums my song on ‘Shapeshifter’ and also directed the ‘Go!’ video. We had the idea of doing a cool tripped out animated video with his wonderful baby Forest and his sister in law Cassie Walde absolutely killed it designing the cut out animations. It was such a fun video to make and I’m so thrilled with the result!”

JP Maurice’s new album Boys is available today on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, and other digital retailers and streaming services. For more information and the most up to date tour schedule, please visit: jpthemaurice.com
