After hiding away for a couple of months to record their latest full length ‘Forever Halloween’, The Maine has hit the road again and have brought their friends Brighten, This Century, & A Rocket To The Moon along for the ride. They played to a sold out show at the Phoenix, and proved that even though they have grown and matured a lot since their ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’ days, they still know how to party. They started the night off pretty mellow with one of their new songs ‘Love & Drugs’ and then they kicked it into high gear with some of their fan’s favourites such as “Inside Of You”, “We All Roll Along” and “Right Girl”. The Maine doesn’t have a big production like some other shows, but their stage presence and performance prove that they don’t need any of that fancy stuff to make their fans have a blast. Throughout the whole night the crowd was filled with energy as they fed off of the band’s presence. As the night started to come to a close, lead singer, John O’Callaghan, asked the crowd to create a big circle as he jumped into the center of it and began singing one of their very first songs ‘Count ‘em One, Two, Three’ to keep the energy going. Something to note about The Maine, is the fact that no matter how big they seem to get, they are the same down to earth guys everyone fell in love with 5 years ago. O’Callaghan also took time out of the night to thank the fans for their continued support over the years, and told them to always follow their dreams. Just by looking around, you could tell by the faces of their young fans that they were very inspired after his speech.
As the night came to an end, Brighten, This Century, & A Rocket To The Moon all came out onto the stage to perform ‘We’ll All Be’ with the band. It is so wonderful to see how much they have grown and matured as musicians over the past 5 years.
