blessthefall put on an electric set at the Phoenix Concert Theatre, as their Drop The Gloves Tour rolled through Toronto on Thursday night. The metalcore band hailing from Phoenix, Arizona kept fans on their toes as they powered through their energetic set.
The set list was pretty diverse, and it included fan favourites such as ‘Hollow Bodies’, ‘Promised Ones’, & ‘What’s Left Of Me’. It was also great to finally hear new songs such as ‘Dead Air’ and ‘Oathbreaker’ live, which come off of their latest album To Those Left Behind.
Throughout the whole show, there was bodies flying everywhere as fans continued to crowd surf to the stage and then jump off of it just moments later. I think one of the things that makes BTF shows really unique is that not only do they sound great live, but they also really have a way of captivating the audience with their stage presence. Front man, Beau Bokan, has no problem interacting with the fans as he’s performing. Whether it’s giving them a high five or hug when they’ve made it onto the stage, or getting into the crowd to sing to the fans. Same goes for guitarist, Elliott Gruenberg, who photobombed a couple of fans that attempted to take a selfie with the band before jumping off of the stage. It’s an interaction that you don’t normally see, and judging by the grins on their fans – you know they’ve just made someone’s day. The energy BTF emits from the stage is powerful. Everyone is bouncing everywhere, yet none of them miss a beat. Just from watching them perform, you can instantly tell that they enjoy what they do, yet are very serious and passionate about perfecting their craft.
If you haven’t heard of blessthefall before, I highly recommend checking them out live. Even if you’re not really into this kind of music, you’ll still be in for a treat.
