Song Premiere : “Draft Dodger” by Clay Ravens

From the Artist :

“My Canadian hometown was a refuge for draft dodgers during the Vietnam War. Relating the stories I heard growing up to current geopolitical situations inspired me to explore the impacts of abandoning your home due to political pressures. The song draft dodger explores the human effects of uprooting yourself and leaving your family for a chance at a better life.” – Clay Ravens

Clay Ravens are a sweat soaked foot-stomping indie folk band from Vancouver that has been captivating audiences with their energetic live performances since 2014.
Founded upon the guttural, honey-smoked harmonies of their vocal blend, Clay Ravens began as a singer-songwriter folk duo between siblings Justin and Brianne Huntley Smith. Their songs lent themselves to a bigger sound and more complex arrangements, so they began recruiting some of Vancouver’s most talented musicians to develop the Clay Ravens vision.
With each new contributor came an unexpected twist to the original idea. Incorporating Brendan Tydall’s shredding twang electric guitar style, Matt Cook-Contois’s legendary fiddle chops, Kelsey Butkus’s technical bass skills, and Tim Lanham’s hard hitting beats, the band has formed an extremely unique indie folk sound.
