Seasoned singer/songwriter, Christian Parker, employs themes of the everyday in his music. He sings about the events and stories of others, while also honing in his wordplay around the human condition. He speaks to the trials, tribulations and victories we encounter in everyday life, and to the complexities of relationships, whether in the form of loss or appreciation.
His newest song, “Cast a Line,” from his upcoming album, Every Passing Mile, is out today. This pop folk song is reminiscent of Paul Simon meets the Beatles in music and vocals. “Cast a Line” was inspired by the pandemic and the stories of how it affected others, highlighting how most were cut short.
This song “is inspired by impending events of our lives, as the world appears the same, it’s only a matter of time before change happens and we face a loss,” explains Christian. “The track was co-written with Peter Pendras in late 2020 during Covid. We collaborated from afar sharing rough demos, lyrical ideas until it was complete. I believe the final line of the song “cast a line when a star falls in the sky – there’s no need to cry, cause it’s falling” we can find hope in a desperate situation.”
In recent years Christian has worked with producer Louie Hurwitz; Woodstock Records who most notably performed in The Band with Levon Helm. Christian’s efforts as lead guitarist in the Waydown Wailers helped take their 2018 release of Backland Blues to number 42 on The Roots Music Report. The band has been a supporting act for Lady A, Charlie Daniels, Jarrod Niemann, and The New Riders of the Purple Sage – to name a few. Now an artist on SubCat Records, Christian is co-producing with engineer Ron Keck on his newest project Every Passing Mile and Best Kept Secret, a collection of previously unreleased material spanning the last two decades.
By pivoting his lyricism around emotion, tension, and hope, Parker has carved out a sound that constantly keeps the listener craving more, with songs that elegantly weave through a tapestry of pensive acoustic and chiming electric guitars with unforgettable hooks. Acting as a musically minded watchman on the wall, Christian Parker centers the themes and stories of his productions around the events and stories of others, while also honing in his wordplay around the human condition. He speaks to the trials, tribulations and victories we encounter in everyday life, and to the complexities of relationships, whether in the form of loss or appreciation.
“Cast a Line” is a completely relatable song about how nothing is forever, how we all have a time limit and that we should spend it accordingly. It’s a reminder that we are meant to live out our lives the way we want. But it’s also about hope, that not every moment has to last forever. Be sure to give “Cast a Line” a listen now.

The video of the song portrays a couple who fell in love in the mid-1960s, an era-correct car carries the viewer through the entire song as it time travels to the future. Its relatable theme makes you want to see how this story plays out. For me, the line “Cast A Line” was inspired by the pandemic and all the stories of the people affected. Many stories were cut short, especially for the baby boomers.”
