Masses gathered at the Danforth Music Hall for Ice Nine Kills’ sold out show on Thursday night. Fresh off the release of their brand new album, The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood, the band captivated the crowd as they performed their horror inspired lyrics and theatrics.
Hitting the stage around 9:40pm, the band appeared in matching masks and suits as they launched into their song ‘Welcome To Horrorwood’. Throughout the set there wasn’t too much banter with the crowd, so it was essentially 70 minutes of continuous music, which I found to be a nice change of pace.
It’s evident that the band values the experience fans have at their live shows and has mastered the craft in ensuring that they create a memorable mark for everyone who has the chance to see them live. Everything from having the Halloween theme song play as the band’s crew set up, to the frequent costume changes between each song to help showcase the movies that were used as inspiration behind the lyrics, every little detail was accounted for. I honestly can’t even begin to imagine what this production will look like as the band continues to grow.
As the night came to a close, singer Spencer Charnas had one more trick up his sleeve as he emerged on stage with Freddy Krueger’s iconic claw as the band ended their set with ‘The American Nightmare’. This night was definitely one for the books as the band kept everyone on their toes through out the whole show, and I would highly suggest any metalcore or horror fans check out Ice Nine Kills the next time they come to town.
