Ladies and gentlemen MMA (Mix Martial Arts) is here! And we thank UFC president DanaWhite and THQ for giving us such a great game :). This isn’t UFC’s first video game. Back is 2002, the UFC came out with there first game, UFC: Tapout that got lukewarm reviews by critics. In 2003, they came out with UFC: Tapout 2 but with a updated roster but also similar reviews. MMA today is now a well-knowed sport. There are many organizations all over the world but the one that stands out is the UFC and now presents their 3rd game, UFC Undisputed for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The first thing that comes to mind with you play UFC Undisputed is the control scheme. THQ has done a great job of using face and shoulder buttons for the mechanics of a fighter. Plus THQ gives an in-depth tutorial to upgrade your skills in the octagon. The game itself is considered to be a realistic mixed martial art simulator consisting of six figthing styles: boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, judo, muay thai, kickboxing, and wrestling. Each fighter is given 2 fighting styles, a roster of 80 fighters and 2 DLC (Downloadable Content), 5 weightclasses: Light Heavyweight, Middleweight, Welterweight, Lightweight; different modes such as Career Mode, Exhibition, Create a Fighter, and Classic Fight mode where it allows you to relive historical fights in the UFC history. The only negative thing about this game is the lack of speed when you compare the game with actual UFC fights.
Overall, I give UFC Undisputed for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 a 9.1/10. I was impressed by the gameplay and graphical detail THQ has brought us. If only they could give the framerate another notch, this game could be an opponent to EA’s Fight Night series.
