Hot Hot Heat closed up the Edge 102.1 Saturday night NXNE showcase at The Mod Club. The quartet out of Victoria British Columbia are always a hit in these parts and played a set consisting of about a fifty-fifty percent mix of old and new. They just released their latest album “Future Breeds” and put on another rocking energetic show. Performing under a light show that included blue and red washes along with bright strobes front man Steve Bays earned the tequila shots he requested making great contact with the fans as well as writhing about the Mod Club stage when he wasn’t dancing or behind the keys. One of the new songs that really stood out was “JFK’s LSD” which is a pop tune with a driving beat and lots of energy, exactly what Hot Hot Heat do best. The band made sure to include favourites “No Not Now” and “Goodnight Goodnight” then ended off the night with “Middle of Nowhere” and “Bandages”. Hot Hot Heat was, well you know, Hot !
