The official lineup and location of Ontario’s 2009 Virgin Music Festival will be announced the morning of Tuesday, July 14. With that said, we can already have a good guesstimate of some of the acts who will and who won’t be performing. It has been already widely accepted that Vfest Ontario will not be held on the Toronto Islands from the last 3 festivals, but will be held in Burl’s Creek in Orillia.
The dates are already set for August 29 and 30. And by knowing this alone, we can safety say that none of the bands performing at the Leeds Festival on Aug 29 and 30 will be in Ontario. These acts will include the likes of Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Bloc Party, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Placebo, Maximo Park, Alexisonfire and Billy Talent. However, this is just a logical statement, who knows if one of the bands will directly get onto a flight right after Leeds and flight to Toronto ASAP….it is highly unlikely though as it would be pretty tight and physically impossible.
Right now, it is pretty saftey to predict that Nine Inch Nails will be headlining Aug 29 (according to Trent’s blog) and British band the Pet Shop Boys will be headlining the “TBA” show on their website tour itinerary on Aug 30.
With only 7-weeks to go, this has got to be the most last-minute and procrastinative lineup for a major festival ever conceived. Therefore, even with the big exciting headliners predicted, I am still a bit worried about the rest of the card.
I personally would like to see Regina Spektor and Arcade Fire play Vfest, as they so far, have no tour dates on Aug 29 or 30. but that’s just me.
