Concert Photos: Good Charlotte @ The Phoenix

They’ve come a long way from when their self-titled debut album came out in 2000, and it showed in the diverse age group of the crowd, that pretty much consisted of 8-30 year olds. The energy that the band gave off and their stage presence was pretty amazing. They never fail to have the crowd interact with them and make them feel like family. They had everyone in the venue jumping, dancing and singing along to every song. It was great to see everyone there moving and just having a great time, so much so that you could feel the floor shaking even at the back of the venue due to the moving crowd. It was easy to see how much Good Charlotte means to so many of their fans, as they sang ‘Hold On’ a lot of fans around me, both young and old, were crying. This song is about never giving up, and showing people that there is always a light at the end of a dark tunnel. There was also a lot of the older fans proudly sporting their Good Charlotte tattoos around the venue.

Not only was this tour special, but specifically the Toronto date. The Madden brothers (Joel – Lead Vocals, & Benji – Guitar & Back Vocals) were celebrating their birthday, which included an after party at Tattoo Rock Parlor where Benji was doing a DJ set. Near the end of the show, all the other bands on tour came out with a cake to sing Happy Birthday to the Madden brothers. It was great to see the genuine smile on their face as everyone in the room sang to them.

Good Charlotte hit up Toronto on Friday for their Cardiology World Tour. This time around they did something really different, instead of playing mostly tracks from their new album ‘Cardiology’ which hit stores November 2nd of last year, they decided to play a lot of songs they haven’t played in a while from their first two albums as this year they will be celebrating 11 years of making music.
