Review of CMT Music Festival

Tens of thousands of Country music lovers trekked to Oro Station in Barrie, Ontario for the first of the many to come CMT Music Festivals. We actually ran into quite a few festivalgoers from good old Tennessee!

The weekend was star-studded with some of the biggest names in Country music today. The likes of Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Sara Evans and Ronnie Dunn graced the main stage with their headlining acts while Canadian country artists such as Tara Oram and Dean Brody were also given the spotlight.

One thing that really stuck to me is how hardcore these fans are. I’ve never been to a festival where I passed by a camping site and then a parking lot with more RV’s than I’ve ever seen before. Initially, I felt pretty out of place, as I was one of the very few but awesome Asian people and not a huge country music lover. However, to my surprise, everyone was extremely friendly and I did not encounter anyone who wanted to duel with me in a shoot-out like in the wild wild west. Phew. As stated before, I found it a very fun event and I really enjoyed the vocal talent of Sara Evans and the energy of Lady Antebellum.

Live in Limbo looks forward to next year’s edition of the CMT Music Festival and we cannot wait to put on our cowboy hats on once again.

Also, special thanks to 13Thirteen Entertainment CEO, Kit Andrews for the pre-festival interview and of course Joanne Smale of Planet3 for being the gosh darn best PR person in Toronto.

With perfect summer days and an endless ocean of cowgirls, the inaugural CMT Music Festival turned out to be one of the most fun outdoor festivals in a long while in Ontario.
