Preview: Nick Carter at Living Arts Centre, Mississauga

Fresh off a summer long, extensive US and Canadian tour with super-group NKOTBSB (that’s New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys together if you’ve been living under a rock), Nick Carter launched his aptly named solo record I’m Taking Off; his first since 2002. Full of pure pop dance tracks, I’m Taking Off reflects the singer’s growth both musically and personally since his last release. Canadian fans were treated to the first single off the album “Love Can’t Wait” which was co-written by Canadian recording artist Shawn Desman, who is obviously no stranger to pop hits. Other notable tracks include “Just One Kiss” and the next single off the record, “Burning Up”.

The proof is in the pudding with this Backstreet Boy alumni. Carter is no longer the young teen dancing alongside his fellow band mates in matching attire. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here though, there is still dancing involved in this equation and the band mates are still around, just not on this record! What Carter has done is spread his wings and forged his own solo path dabbling in catchy hooks mixed with just a dash of R&B undertones. He’s grown up and matured the exact same way his fans have. So perhaps the posters are gone from the walls, the CDs filed away elsewhere, and the t-shirts don’t fit, but Nick Carter has proven that he is here to stay.

Live in Limbo will be checking out Nick Carter live on Thursday, November 3 at The Living Arts Centre in Mississauga. Stay tuned for photos and a review!
