So it is finally that time of year again when Spike will crown the best games that have gave us so many enjoyable moments and experiences in 2009. In my opinion, last year was a bit controversial as Spike gave the “Best Game of the Year” award to Grand Theft Auto IV while Gamespot gave the title to Metal Gear Solid 4. I am a big GTA fan, but I fully believe the MGS4 should have cleanly won. It was definitely a hard choice as Gamespot reviewed each of those with a perfect 10/10. With the PS3 (now $299) and Xbox360 (around $299) prices dropping and Wii ($199) sales decreasing and a plethora of the games that PS3 really needed when it was first released, the landscape of gaming has changed very dramatically in 2009.
Without further talk, I present my predictions and a few comments on which games will win this year’s Spike VGAs.
Game of the Year:
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Among Thieves is probably one of the most versatile and most well refined and polished game I have ever played. period. Despite what some people may think, this game includes so many epic moments and scenes and story plots that makes me want see this game win.
I feel that Assassin’s Creed II was incredibly fun and an amazing experience with its beautiful graphics, but I found the battle system was a big sluggish.
Studio of the Year:
Naughty Dog
These guys did one hell of a job with Uncharted 2!
Best Xbox 360 Game:
Halo: ODST
Just because it’s Halo I guess.
Best PS3 Game:
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Best Wii Game:
New Super Mario Bros
Best PC Game:
Dragon Age: Origins
Best Handheld Game:
GTA: China Town wars
Best Shooter:
COD:MW2
Best Fighting:
Street Fighter IV
Best Action Adventure Game:
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Best RPG:
Dragon Age: Origins
Best Multi Player Game:
Borderlands
Best Individual Sports Game:
UFC 2009 Undisputed
I think Spike would lose all of its contract with UFC if they didn’t give it to them haha.
Best Team Sports Game:
NHL 10 (Because I am Canadian) But the will probably give it to NFL 2010.
Best Driving Game:
Don’t care…Forza Motorsport 3?
Best Music:
Lego Rock Band
I love Rock Band and I love Lego…surely that must be more awesome than just Rock Band right?
Best Sound Track:
The Beatles Rock Band
Best Original Score:
Uncharted 2: Among Theives
Best Graphics:
Uncharted 2 : Among Theives
