It’s been a groundbreaking year for Scottish singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé. Her debut album, Our Version of Events, received much praised from music critics worldwide. She earned countless nominations including Critic’s Choice Brit Award which she won. Sandé spent the summer touring with Coldplay as well as performing at the London 2012 Olympics ceremonies. Somewhere in between she still manages to write music for other pop acts and plan her October wedding.

Looking elegant in a black dress and sporting her bleached blonde hairdo, Sandé opens with her most intriguing 2011 single “Daddy” and a new track called “Tiger”. You could see joy written across her face as she caters to a full house of dedicated fans. Throughout her performance, Sandé channels the soul of a gospel soloist. Her voice grabs you by the core with her backing band adding a sensual groove to her every keynote.

When Emeli really got into a song (“My Kind of Love” “Where I Sleep”), you can see the passion her in swinging arms. She wasn’t afraid to let her emotions show through her body movement. Between each song change, she takes a minute to express her gratitude. She loves people and bringing empowerment to their lives. In songs like “Wonder”, we are remained that we have the power to be amazing human beings.

Whether it was telling her stories behind her songs or pulling you in with her powerhouse voice, Sandé definitely wowed the crowd at Kool Haus last night. The atmosphere was incredible as she performs her hit song “Next to Me” followed by “Read All About It”. As the show comes to an end, her entire performance showcased her remarkable talent. It is clear that Emeli Sandé is on the edge of something very big.
