Despite the recent influx of band’s returning from hiatuses, Cute Is What We Aim For’s recent reunion has slipped under the pop-punk radar. But alas, armed with with original members Shaant Hacikyan, Jeff Czum and Tom Falcone, the Buffalo, NY group made a triumphant return to Toronto on Friday night. Relying heavily on material from their 2006 debut, Same Old Blood Rush With a New Touch the group played a solid set brimming with nostalgia including Hacikyan and Czum’s stripped down staple “Lyrical Lie” and first single “There’s a Class For This”. Despite All Star Weekend headlining the show, Cute is What We Aim For brought out a solid sized crowd of diehard fans eager to catch a glimpse of the reunion. While non-fans might not have been easily converted this time around, it’s only a matter of time before Cute is What We Aim for strike back with new material that will have a whole new generation eager to catch the guys live.
