Boys and girls all dressed in their pearls and best party outfits welcomed Marina and the Diamonds back to Toronto.
Marina Diamandis has been making headlines since the release of her second studio album, Electra Heart. After the success of the Lonely Hearts Club tour, Marina announced the tour will be returning to North America in May.
Covered in a white veil while dressed in a two piece pink suit, the Welsh native appeared on stage opening with “Homewrecker” and “Oh No”. The costumes and stage were like homage to Madonna’s The Virgin Tour which Marina cited as one of the inspirations for Electra Heart .
Screams gathered from below as the crowd watches Marina passionately sing and twirl around for “The State of Dreaming” and “Primadonna”. But it was her performances of “Power and Control” and “Lies” that were most memorable. Half way through the show, she revealed her instrumental abilities on the keyboard for a chilling rendition of “Obsessions” and “Numb”.
It is clear this young starlet is already a superstar in her own right. Although the weather was terrible, Marina and her band treated the audience to an electrifying evening. The show finishes off with fan favourite, “How to Be a Heartbreaker”.
