Steel Panther with Citizen Zero at the Rapids Theatre

If you are at all faint of heart and have no sense of humour do not go see Steel Panther, but if you have a great sense of humour, love seeing scantily clad women and hearing crude humour then I have found the band just for you! Steel Panther completely took over The Rapids Theatre in Niagara Falls, NY on Wednesday evening.  With song titles like “Asian Hooker” and “Fat Girl” may give you some sort of an idea of what kind of band this is.  Their over the top antics, dressed in spandex head to toe made for a great night out.

Their fans were lined up down the street dressed in wigs and glowing in fluorescent  spandex in anticipation of seeing their favourite band in a matter of a couple of hours.  The people that go see Steel Panther are some of the most hard core fans I have ever seen at any show. You would think this band being an 80’s glam rock band with very inappropriate sexual jokes the women would shy away and their fans would be in their 40’s and up, but this is not the case.  They brought up a young lady on stage who was all of 16 years old to sing “Girl From Oklahoma” to her but I think the joke was on them.   She belted out the tune with a pretty decent voice which seemed to surprise Michael Starr (lead singer).  A huge surprise to all of us her father was in the audience.

Starting the night with “Eyes” and “Back Door” got the crowd hopping, not like they needed any help. The fans knew every lyric to every song the whole night.  This is normal at most shows but not with the enthusiasm that the “Fanthers” have.  Even when they pulled the ladies on the stage for “17 Girls In A Row” knowing they were going to be coaxed to show their breasts they all ran on stage.  My fellow photographers and Joe (tour manager) tried to get me to go on stage by grabbing my camera gear and bringing it towards the stage knowing full well I would follow my gear.  I did manage to get my gear back without going on stage, nice try guys!

Steel Panther does have a new album out called “Lower The Bar”. I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet but I do want to mention they have pressed an LP for this album and the lime green and black colours are pretty impressive.  I always have a great time at a Steel Panther show and will continue to see them any chance I get.

Once again thanks to the crew because without them there is no show!

Concert Photographer at Live In Limbo. Started concert photography due to the fact that I love music but do not have a musical note in my body, so this is the next best thing as far as I am concerned. I love the energy rush you get coming off the stage from the performers. I am a hardcore animal fanatic and will go out of my way to help them. My nickname is Miniwheats which was given to me years ago and most people do not know my real name. Twitter @minismemories
