Boston Calling Music Festival will take place on May 26th-28th, at the Harvard Athletic Complex. Although last year it took place at the City Hall Plaza, the organizers felt that the Harvard Athletic Complex would be a better location for such a large scale event as the venue is a host for many other large events as well. Headliners include Chance the Rapper and Sigur Rose on Friday, Mumford & Sons on Saturday, and Tool on Sunday. Wanna know the scoop? Below is the entire lineup:
- MUMFORD & SONS
- BON IVER
- MAJOR LAZER
- THE 1975
- SOLANGE
- RUN THE JEWELS
- TEGAN & SARA
- SYLVAN ESSO

This lineup is awesome because it varies in genre, making this an experience to fit for all kinds of music lovers. You have some Mac Demarco for the Indie fans, Major Lazer for the EDM folks, Car Seat Headrest and the 1975 for alt-rock people, and Danny Brown and Run The Jewels for all the hip-hoppers out there. The variety in genre also allows people to explore different ones, as opposed to some other festivals that are strictly hip-hop or strictly Indie based- this has a little bit of everything. For a music fan like myself, I’m all over the map in terms of what I like to listen to so this line-up couldn’t be more perfect.

Festival Map
FOOOOOOD
There is a large variety of food available for this festival, which is usually a very important aspect to a foodie like myself. After checking up the lineup, here are some of my fave’s that I think you should munch while you attend:
Arancini Bros
This is a different one! I’ve always seen lots of za at festivals, but never full out Italian food- so this place has some sick choices for all my Italian lovers out there- mangia!
Classic Ragu – Saffron Risotto with tomato meat sauce, peas and mozzarella
Bianco Verde – Basil pesto with mozzarella
Buffalo Ball – Roasted chicken with gorgonzola cheese
Bucatini Fritti – Italian style mac and cheese
Pizza Ball – Margherita tomato, basil, mozzarella
Our Famous Nutella – Hazelnut chocolate and cinnamon sugar
Granito Pops – Lemon, pistachio, and watermelon
Bon Me
For all my PHO and Vietnamese lovers out there- this place is for YOU
Signature Vietnamese Sandwiches and Soba Noodle Salads
with choice of filling:
Spiced Rubbed Chicken
Chinese BBQ Pork
Roasted Soy and Paprika Tofu
Riceburg
Riceburg has a variety of Asian stlye cuisine such as rice burgers (which I need to try), salad bowls, rice bowls, and more:
Spicy Sweet and Sour Crispy Chicken
Bulgogi Shaved Steak
Spicy Sweet and Sour Vegetarian Chicken
Shiitake Mushroom
Sate’ Grill
Brown Rice with choice of Chicken, Tofu, or Beef
Rice Noodles with choice of Chicken, Tofu, or Beef
Mixed greens and Veggies with choice of Chicken, Tofu, or Beef
Crispy Rolls
Gyoza Dumplings
Shuck Food Truck
SEAFOOD FRIENDS WHERE U AT? So Seafood is definitely on the pricier side, but if you’re really trying to treat yourself and you are a sea-foodie, your festival dreams have come true:
Oysters on the Half Shell
Lobster Roll, Cape Cod cold
Lobster Roll Slider
Whole Heart Provisions
Its so easy to eat burgers and fries all weekend at festivals but I find whenever I’ve done that I always ended up feeling pretty shitty by the end of the weekend. If you wanna keep it on the healthier side, here it is:
Tazon Style Bowl – Pineapple, Corn Salsa, Korean Black Beans, Smashed Cucumber and Tomato, Red Cabbage Slaw and Lime Vinaigrette with Corn Nuts
Miso Style Bowl – Roasted Broccoli, Shaved Brussels Sprouts, Smashed Cucumber, Pickled Carrots, Red Cabbage Slaw with Orange Miso Sauce and Toasted Sesame Seeds
Viet Style Bowl – Roasted Broccoli, Smashed Cucumber, Tomato, Pickled Carrots, Savory Green Beans Spicy Peanut Sauce and Peanut Crumbs
Comedy
Yes- the festival has comedy to add some laugh’s to your day if you want to take a break from the tunes featuring artists such as NYC based Pete Holmes who has appeared on Comedy Central, the must-see Phoebe Robinson, Jordan Rock, and many more noteable comedians!
I believe what makes this festival works so well is the variety that they offer- not just in music, but in experience. They have ALL to cater to all different cravings and preferences, so many different genres for different fans AND allowing festival goer’s to explore a variety in genre, and comedy.
