Video Premiere : “Rocket To Mars” by Jon Cohen Experimental

From The Artist : Jon Cohen Experimental has been busy cooking up a new video for his track “Rocket To Mars” the second single off his new album entitled “Lorem Ipsum”, (Sugar Gator/Fontana North) which he wrote, produced and recorded entirely on his iPhone using various apps.

The video ‘Rocket To Mars’ depicts a love story between two NASA rovers (Spirit & Opportunity) sent to Mars to study the planet. No longer wanting to be alone and alienated, the two Mars rovers begin searching for each other on the lonely planet while Cohen croons in his spacesuit, warning us about our growing alienation to our own planet and ultimately to each other.

The video (edited by Jesse Daniel Smith) is a brilliant collage of vintage stock footage, of surreal space imagery and of Jon singing in his capsule, all cleverly woven together to spin a tale of lost love, alienation, space travel and new hope.

Jon Cohen Experimental is a Montreal songwriter/multi-instrumentalist whose electrifying story-songs transport listeners into the dreamlike dance floors of their minds. His tunes are rooted in 90s fuzz-washed synth pop and quickly reach toward the sunshine of hip-shaking electro grooves.

Lorem Ipsum is the first electronic pop album of its kind in Canada, recorded almost entirely inside Jon’s iPhone. The eight tracks are an eclectic mix of musical genres including electronic EDM, synthpop and danse. You can read more about Jon’s new album on the CBC article Here.

“If you dig a smooth, hypnotic, soul-moving beat that allows you to transcend and tip-toe over the daily trials and tribulations of this whole thing we’re all living in right now, I would strongly suggest not missing the birth of one of [Cohen’s] babies.”  (Adam Deane / Beatroute)
