Damian and Stephen Marley at History

Damian and Stephen Marley brought Toronto to a halt at History Monday night. Stirring up a commotion on the final leg of the Traffic Jam Tour. A thick layer of smoke clouded the venue with the band silhouetted on stage as the voice of Big Youth resonated in our ears. Flashing lightning and clashing thunder vibrated the earth beneath our feet. As the storm lifted, Damian and Stephen took to the stage.

Reggae fans were treated to a Marley family celebration with Damian and Stephen trading songs all night while mixing in a heavy dose of their father’s songs too. Pimpa’s Paradise, Road To Zion and of course Welcome to Jamrock highlighted Damian’s set. Stephen’s smooth style serenading Cast The First Stone, Tight Ship and a solid version of Rockstone. To the delight of the crowd the Marley brothers smashed their duets Medication and Traffic Jam.

Bob’s catalogue was on full display as well. Classic reggae hits like Exodus, Jamming and Is This Love. Roots rockers like Punky Reggae Party and So Much Trouble were also performed. The crowd was sent home with a wonderful encore of Could You Be Loved. You could fell the heat all night long. A welcome warm summer breeze on a cold winter night.
