  1. The Stage – Avenged Sevenfold
  2. California – Blink 182
  3. Bad Vibrations – A Day To Remember

What was the most underrated album of 2016?

Dissonants – Hands Like Houses

Fix Idé – TiD

What was your favourite Canadian album of 2016?

Afraid Of Heights – Billy Talent

What were your three favourite songs of 2016?

  1. Square Hammer – Ghost
  2. Pretty Little Distance – As It Is
  3. Circles – Pierce The Veil

How many concerts and/or festivals did you go to in 2016?
I lost count after 40, 10 of which I traveled around to see Ghost.. whoops

What were your three favourite concerts of the year?

  1. Rob Zombie & Korn at the Molson Amphitheatre
  2. Slipknot & Marilyn Manson at the Air Canada Centre
  3. Nick Carter at the Phoenix Concert Theatre

What was your favourite festival you attended of the year?

Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL. It was on a whole different level than anything I’ve ever attended.

What festival had the best lineup (regardless if you attended or not)?
Rock Fest! I really wanted to make it out to that festival; the 2016 line up was a 2008 emo kid’s dream come true

What/who was the biggest musical disappointment (live or album) for you?

Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman was my biggest disappointment this year. After being obsessed with her album My Everything, I was so excited for her new album – but sadly it didn’t seem to stick with me; no matter how hard I tried.

In your opinion, what was the biggest music story?

The lead singer of The Story So Far drop kicking a fan off of the stage for taking a selfie during their performance at the Mod Club.

What band did you see live for the first time that really impressed you?

This year I was finally able to cross Rob Zombie off of my bucket list and I was completely blown away by his entire set. From his stage props to his live performance – everything was on point and you felt as if you were just sucked into one of his movie sets. It really has me thinking of a way to make it out to his haunted house/music festival next year. If it’s anything like his live performances it’s definitely going to be worth the trip!

What was your favourite new musical discovery of 2016?

It’s a toss up between The Struts and Frank Turner. I stumbled across them at Lollapalooza and instantly became obsessed.

Who were you disappointed to miss seeing live this year?

In This Moment. The first time I saw them live was back in 2011 when they were part of The All Stars Tour, and within the last couple of years they have really blown up. Their current production set up is very theatrical, and I was so excited to hear they were touring with Rob Zombie and Korn; sadly just hours before the show it was announced that they were not able to cross the border.

Who should we be looking out for in 2017?

As It Is

Who’s going to be headlining (or at least playing) all the 2017 festivals?

Marilyn Manson

What was your favourite review or photo set you did for LiL this year?

Rob Zombie & Korn at the Molson Amphitheatre

Is there anything else you want to say about 2016 or predict about 2017?

I feel like 2017 is going to be a great year, so many great bands have already announced tours for the new year; so it can only get even better from here! I’m also very excited for new music from Ghost, AFI, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Marilyn Manson, Katy Perry, and As It Is.
