Beauty Empties : Hits and Misses Pt.2

Over the last couple of months I’ve accumulated quite a few new beauty products that are finally being finished up and thought it would be fun to do an empties post with some of my thoughts for each of them (would I buy them again? Was it worth the price point? Ect). Since there is 13 products on the list, I’ll be breaking it down into 2 parts to avoid the post from becoming too long. This is a continuation from last week’s post, and you can check out Part 1 here.

Neutrogena – Pink Grapefruit Acne Exfoliating Face Scrub ( $10 @ Shoppers)

I love this face scrub. It’s gentle and if I had not seen the microbeads in the scrub, I would have never had guessed they were in there. Also you can’t go wrong with the price point and the fact that you only need a pea sized dollop to wash your face and neck. My face is always left looking and feeling refreshed after using this face scrub, and I noticed big difference in my skin texture.

Sol de Janeiro – Strengthening + Smoothing Shampoo + Conditioner Set

I cashed in some of my Sephora points for a deluxe Sol de Janeiro VIB Reward, which included the shampoo, conditioner, butter hair repair treatment and some other things from the brand. I absolutely love the smell of the product, it’s sweet ( I think a little like caramel ) and tropical. As much as I loved the scent, I didn’t notice a drastic difference in my hair when only using the shampoo and conditioner, so for now I’ll just be sticking to the hair mask & body lotion with the same scent.

Sol de Janeiro – Triple Brazilian Butter Hair Repair Treatment Mask ($47 @ Sephora)

Of all the things on both parts of this list, the Triple Brazilian Butter Hair Repair Treatment is by far my favourite. Over the last +10 years I’ve been bleaching and dying my hair, and nothing has made the damaged parts feel half as good as this treatment. It leaves my hair feeling soft, silky and shiny every time. Plus it leaves my hair smelling amazing for a couple of days! I do want to note that I have thick, coarse hair. This product is pretty heavy so I’m not sure if the results will be different for people with finer hair. As you can see from the photo, I already had to grab the full sized version.

Frank Body – Perky Sculpting Body Hydrator ( $26 @ Sephora)

This cream is apparently highly caffeinated and is supposed to help skin appear smoother, firmer and more hydrated. After using this twice a day (once in the morning + once at night), I have yet to see any kind of noticeable difference after 4 months of use. It’s just a nice thick moisturizer that smells like a delicious coffee cheesecake that comes in a cute coffee cup, so if you’re on the hunt for a cream that will help the appearance of your skin you might want to skip this one. I also noticed that if you used too much it started to leave your skin feeling sticky afterwards.

Kate Somerville – ExfoliKate Intensive Pore Exfoliating Treatment ($117 @ Sephora )

This treatment started out as a sample, and as soon as it hit the bottom I went out and purchased the full sized one. It’s a little on the harsher side and has a strong cinnamon scent, so I won’t recommend jumping right into it if you has sensitive skin as has quite a bit of gritt and gives your face a tingling sensation, but I immediately noticed how soft and smooth my skin became after just one use. I also noticed how well it cleaned my pores and it seems to also be lightening my hyperpigmentation marks on my face. It has definitely become a staple product in my routine.

Kate Somerville – ExfoliKate Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash

I’ve had this sample for about 2 months now and have been using it 3/7 days of the week at nighttime. This cleanser is very gentle, rinses off clean and it has a slight citrus scent but it’s not overbearing. It does the trick if you’re just looking for a mild daily cleanser, but I much prefer investing in Kate Sommerville’s Intensive Pore Exfoliating Treatment and using that twice a week.
